Water Meter Replacement Project
 
The Augusta County Service Authority (ACSA) will be replacing all of our customers’ water meters as part of a multi-year plan to upgrade all meters to cellular meters. The meters will offer customers the most accurate measurement of water usage, the potential for earlier leak detection, and the ability to view detailed usage information on a computer, tablet, or smart phone. Replacement will start in Verona and is estimated to be complete in 4 years.

The new meter will use cellular reading technology, allowing the ACSA to gather meter readings from our office using existing cell phone towers.  The cellular-read meters report new readings once per day, allowing faster access to information and any potential problems.


Once the meter has been replaced, customers can view their water usage and setup leak alerts on both computer and mobile devices with EyeOnWater. Click on ‘Using EyeOnWater’ on the left menu for more information.

 

Here is what can be expected during the replacement:

  • The ACSA has contracted the meter installation to Bitter Creek, LLC a local construction company who has recently installed water meters for the City of Waynesboro. Vehicles will have magnetic decals identifying them as ACSA contractors. Installers will carry proper identification, and have NO need to enter homes nor will they be asking for any form of payment.   • Bitter Creek, LLC will notify ACSA customers at least 48 hours prior to meter replacement by hanging a blue door tag. Once the meter has been replaced, Bitter Creek, LLC will notify customers with a green door tag stating the meter has been replaced. When installing the new meter, water service may be interrupted for 15 to 20 minutes. 
  • It is not necessary to be home when the replacement is performed. Once you receive a blue hang tag on your door, it would be helpful to clear/trim any landscaping from around the meter area.  Bitter Creek, LLC will trim bushes and clear any landscaping, as needed, to access the meter box. Please ensure vehicles are not parked on top of the meter box and keep all children and pets out of the area when the installation crew is performing the replacement.
